Cholesterol

Cholesterol is not the enemy, inflammation is. Inflammation is caused by many things such as viruses, bacteria, heavy metals, high blood sugar, high insulin, cigarettes, obesity, age, hypothyroidism, genetics etc. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL)is sent out into circulation to act as a band-aid on inflamed arteries, but as the cause of the inflammation is not treated, reduced or even recognised then LDL just keeps on getting thicker in the arteries then all of a sudden you have atherosclerosis. Usually, high cholesterol and atherosclerosis are asymptomatic until a blockage occurs affecting the heart or other muscles. So what to do!
Well, food is medicine here folks. The Mediterranean diet is king, it’s loaded with nutrient dense foods that will lower of oxidative stress and reduce inflammation as well as provide cofactors, such as B complex vitamins​, CoQ10, zinc and magnesium) to support repair and recovery.
